Bad Times At The El Royle- A bad stay

Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) was directed by Drew Goddard and stars John Hamm, Chris Hemsworth, Cythia Erivo and Jeff Bridges as people who just want to spend a couple nights at the El Royale. This hotel is special because it lays on the state lines of California and Nevada. Each person there seems normal enough but over time, the people have their intentions come out. The night becomes deadly as some of the residents come up with a plan to make it out alive. For a movie with a cast like this, you expect something special, but it was honestly a huge let down. There wasn't a single performance, outside of Cynthia Erivo that really impressed me. The scenes didn't flow which led to a lot of unneeded flashbacks. The cinematography on the other hand was gorgeous. I loved the hotel and how everything looked in the rain. It all looked welcoming yet eerie. The script was very lackluster, which led to a very constricted performance from Chris Hemsworth. For the time he was on the screen, he was a show stealer, but he could have done so much more with more freedom. The movie did have good elements of mystery, but the thinking made my head hurt. Wish everything was put together smoothly.
