Deadpool 2- Good but can't beat the original

05/18/2018

Deadpool 2 (2018) was directed by David Leitch and stars Ryan Reynolds as the bold and brash Deadpool. A man from the future comes into town and tries to kill a boy that Deadpool is trying to mentor. Once the man that was suppose to be the bad guy shows his true intentions, Deadpool's life starts to become a lie. Now he must take a side before the fate of the world is out of his hands. The movie continues on the great and provocative humor that the first movie mastered. Ryan Reynolds knocked it out of the park yet again. A surprise performance was given by Josh Brolin. The man who played Thanos plays another villain in the Marvel universe. The banter between Reynolds and Brolin are phenomenal. It had me laughing so hard that my ribs hurt. I also really enjoyed the "X-Force" sequence mid way through the movie. The action sequences in the film were also pretty great. There weren't any real moments during there movie where the pace slowed down, but when it was slow the movie lost me. The beginning in particular, after a major even to start off the movie was beyond slow. I also really didn't care for the acting from the villain Russell. His motives were unjustified and just annoying. The actor was fine but the script was truly lacking. All in all, the movie was really good but it didn't live up to the high bar that the original movie set.
