Don't Breathe 2- Unbreathable
Don't Breathe 2 (2021) was directed by Rodo Sayagues and stars Stephen Lang as the blind man for the first film. In this movie, he is taking care of a girl who he saved from a meth lab explosion. Once her real father finds out where she is, he hunts down the blind man to get his daughter back. I honestly still think that this movie should not have been made. It felt unneeded and unnecessary. It really took me out of the experience because of how everything was handled. It felt like the director and writers knew this and decided to add a larger kill count and more gore. This still doesn't make the movie work though because that stuff can only keep me entertained for so long. There wasn't a lot of substance to the film as well. I didn't really feel for any of the characters because of all of the horrible things each of them has done. The pacing was also terribly done. The film starts off with such a bang that after it all settles down, the film drags tremendously. I think that if the film followed the first ones plot more, the movie could have felt more put together. The fact that they changed the location really made the blind man feel vulnerable instead of the un-killable menace in the first film. At the end of the day, this film was not needed and it has possibly ended this franchise. I would only tell you to watch this one when it becomes available at home. Skip this one for now and watch the much better first film.
