Halloween Kills- Brutal Boogeyman

10/14/2021

Halloween Kills (2021) was directed by David Gordon Green and stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. She once again has to find a way to take down her killer, Michael Myers. Once he escapes the burning house that he was trapped in, the town decides to band together to kill evil once and for all. This movie was a very fun time. If you go into the film with the mindset of watching a simple slasher movie, you'll enjoy yourself. Sadly, even though I did enjoy this installment to the franchise, the film before it was better constructed. The plot is more centered on Laurie's daughter and granddaughter, (played by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak). I do like all of the callbacks to the previous films but I really enjoyed the opening sequence of the film a lot more. It was an untold story of the night of Halloween back in 1978. There were also some pretty graphic kills in this film. I was actually pretty shocked with what Michael did to some characters. Im not going to spoil it for you, but the scene with the car at the park was a standout to me. I found this film more centered on the gore aspect and lacking the suspense. Yes there were moments of it, but they were overshadowed by the "kill count". There was also a pretty terrible hospital scene that really had me wanting more of Michael Myers and less of whatever the town was going through. I know there is going to be a third and final film, but this cliffhanger that they left off on was terrible. Again, no spoilers ahead, but it did leave a sour taste in my mouth. At the end of the day, If you want to see Michael go crazy once again, this is the perfect Halloween flick for you, otherwise, I would probably skip this entry.
