Hustle- A Slam Dunk

06/24/2022

Hustle (2022) was directed by Jeremiah Zagar and stars Adam Sandler as a talent scout for the Philadelphia 76ers. On a trip, he finds a rare talent by the name of Bo Cruz, played by Juancho Hernangomez. As Bo deals with his past mistakes to make it to the NBA, Stanley Sugarman must deal with his clients problems as well. As a massive basketball fan, I really enjoyed the film. The behind the scenes stuff is always very interesting to me and to see how a team is put together that way was awesome. The acting from the NBA stars were awesome as well. Anthony Edwards was a standout for me as the rookie prospect Kermit Wilts. Every scene that includes him and Bo had me on the edge of my seat. I also love how real the movie keeps it with its themes. There are some serious subject matters that are given major screen time that really made me appreciate the film more. My one gripe was the ending. I felt like they could have had a great moment between Stanley and Bo at the draft instead of just cutting into the NBA. Besides that small gripe, Hustle is a phenomenal sports movie and I would recommend it to anyone!
