Iron Man- Tons of Artificial Heart
Iron Man (2008) was directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr as the genius billionaire, Tony Stark. When Tony heads to the Middle East for a demonstration of his weapons of war, he is captured by the terrorist group, the Ten Rings. Once there, he designs a suit to escape his captors and save the world from his own weapons. I am currently on a quest to rewatch the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and this was its foundation stone. I remember when this movie first came out when I was seven years old and it blew my mind. Seeing what this movie lead to years down the line is astonishing. This film is action packed and well acted from beginning to end. Robert Downey Jr is the definitive Iron Man and the role shouldn't be touched again in this lifetime. His performance was not only brilliantly done, but his actions and motives felt grounded in his world. I love how humbled he became over the course of the film as he realized the imprint he was leaving on society. Obadiah Stane was also portrayed well by Jeff Bridges. Even though his villain doesn't stand up to the many that have come and gone, it was a good starting point for the universe. I also loved how well this movie was paced, it felt like a true superhero movie from start to finish. It really had a great progression which really helped out with keeping my attention. One gripe I did have with the film was some scenes being a little unrealistic. And yes, I know this is a superhero movie and some of this stuff shouldn't matter, but the whole beginning sequence in the cave felt to campy for me. In the end, this movie is a masterpiece and deserves all the love and praise it gets. An instant classic. P.S, older movies won't be reviewed as much on this site but, September is a very slow month for movies, so I thought I would throw this in there! Definitely give this one a watch.
