Nope- Nothing to Nope about

Nope (2022) was directed by Jordan Peele and stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as a brother and sister duo that discovers that UFO's are real. They need to find ways to protect themselves and their farm from the danger. Jordan Peele is slowly becoming one of my favorite directors. Get Out (2017) and Us (2019) were both phenomenal movies and Nope is no different. The film doesn't rely on jump scares and gore to scare you. There is a true build up and suspense that culminates to a terrific end. The way that electricity effects the film was a new element that I have never seen before. The setup of this element really pays off near the end and had me feeling like I was apart of setting it all up, Nope is also extremely well cast. Keke Palmer is a show stealer here. She brings such life to her scenes to the point where I couldn't take my eyes off of her. The sound design was pretty much perfect around the board aside from a couple hiccups in the beginning. I did find a couple of story beats that didn't make much sense and a couple of scenes that really never developed into much, but all in all, Jordan Peele has done it again. Nope is terrifying, thoughtful, hilarious and personal. I highly recommend watching this one as soon as you can.
