Pet Sematary- Better off dead
Pet Sematary (2019) was directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer and stars Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz as a couple who move into a new home in the woods with a dark past that is in the woods behind them. Evil things start to occur and this leads to the death of the family cat. To not upset his little girl, the dad goes and buries the cat in the ancient burial ground in the woods called the "pet sematary". Once the cat comes back to life, it leads to the evil that was kept there to come back and haunt the family. I really liked the original film which maybe led to my eventual let down with this film. I think that the actors did the best that they could with the subpar script they were given. The movie was shot beautifully and everything was acted fine but I honestly do not see the need to reboot this franchise. Even the ending killed off any chances of a sequel. I felt that if this movie was under different direction and with a better script, it would have excelled a lot more. This movie just really ended up as a jumpscare fest with no real substance.
