Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings- Kung Fu Superhero

Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021) was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Lui as Shang Chi, a boy who was raised to be an assassin by his father before running away from the clan. Once he is brought back years later, he has to face his father to discover who he was meant to become. I would like to start off by saying that this movie has the best choreographed fight scenes in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The acting was also top notch with great chemistry between Shang Chi and Katy, (played by Awkwafina). They both fit perfectly in the MCU and I am excited to see where these stories take them. I also have to mention the Mandarin played by Ben Kingsly. He is a show stealer and he had me cracking up throughout the film. There were a couple of problems with the movie though. The film starts off with such a high that when the plot beings to unfold and backstories are told, I was finding myself becoming bored. The villain in the movie, while acted perfectly by Tony Leung Chiu-wai, wasn't well written. He is a very forgettable antagonist and left a lot to be desired from his character. I also want to mention that I was expecting a lot more out of the finale of the movie. At that point, I thought the movie could have been trimmed about thirty minutes and it could have felt a lot more complete. In the end, this film has me very excited for the future of Phase 4 and I cannot wait to see what happens with Shang-Chi next.
