Sisu- World War Terminator

Sisu (2023) was directed by Jalmari Helander and stars Jorma Tommila as a man who has escaped the war to become a gold farmer. After striking big, he hits the road with his dog to turn it all in for profit. Sadly, on the way there he runs into Nazi soldiers and his day takes a turn for the worst. I really enjoyed this film. It was shocking, gritty and sometimes hard to watch. The ninety minute run time had a phenomenal seventy minutes and twenty minutes that made me loose so much interest in the film that dropped my score from a ten to a seven. I love my war movies but when the hero literally gets shot in the face, hung and survives a massive plane crash, it becomes less believable and more like the horrendous Fast and Furious franchise. This movie has a great premise, amazing performances and decides to go completely crazy for no reason, its going to roll some eyes just like it did mine. It's upsetting but it didn't make me appreciate everything else this movie had to offer. The cinematography and the wide shots in this movie were gorgeous. The script was great with our main character only needing the two lines he spoke and the action was top notch. If you can be okay with the dumb ways this character survives these situations, I highly recommend a really fun war movie!
