The Menu- Serving Up Serial Killers

12/19/2022

The Menu (2022) was directed by Mark Mylod and stars Anna Taylor Joy as Margot. She is a woman who is roped into attending a diner that is only for the richest and most famous of society. Once getting there, the customers realize how out of sorts the cooks and head chef is. This dinner becomes a night from hell as Margot and the rest of the patrons have to find out how to make it out of there alive. This is a dark horse movie of the year from me. I really liked everything about this movie except the ending. This movie was smart, really well cast and a great mystery. I loved seeing these characters interact with each other as they discover the terrible things that are going on behind the scenes. Taylor-Joy really commits herself to the character and every time she was off screen, I felt like the movie was lacking. The head chef, (Ralph Fiennes) did a spectacular job bringing the suspense and power to the movie. I was excited to see the diners receive their next course because I felt this unnerve about each one. The ending did loose it for me though. Without spoiling anything, it just felt like the writers needed to stay under two hours and nipped the plot off early. I was decently satisfied with the ending but like a good dish at a restaurant, it led me wanting even more. The Menu is a great example of how movies should be done now and I highly suggest you see it.
