Midsommar- A mid-summer surprise

07/17/2019

Midsommar (2019) was directed by Ari Aster and tells the story of Dani, a college student who is dealing with the sudden loss of her family. Her boyfriend Christian is getting fed up with her antics everyday and is pressured by his friends to dump her. They decide to take her on a trip to Sweden to clear her mind. When they arrive at their destination, they are greeted by a cult that tries to hide a dark past. The movie itself was beautiful. Everything about the film, from the cinematography to the music set the tone well. Acting was beautiful especially from the lead actress, Florence Pugh. The kills in the film were shockingly gory and upsetting. There was also a very crude sex scene in the film but none of this really detracted from the beauty of the film. The only problem I had with the film was the slow pacing in the beginning. That being said, Midsommar is a film that I highly recommend to you!
