Venom- Deserved better recognition
Venom (2018) was directed by Rueben Fleirscher and stars Tom Hardy as the reported Eddie Brock. He is trying to expose Carlton Drake, The CEO of a mysterious company in town for their shady business. After being infected with the symbyote, Venom takes over Eddies body and seeks revenge on Carlton Drake for what he put him through. I really enjoyed this film and I really don't understand all of the terrible reviews the film is getting. I really loved all of the banter between Venom and Eddie. The scenes where Venom takes over Eddie and has him do really irregular things was what made the movie. The action was also great, but like all these superhero movies now, was filled with a bunch of CGI. I do wish that the actual Venom character was present a lot more. When the actual monster was present, I was in awe of his design. The downside of the film was definitely all of the other characters. The performances outside of Tom Hardy were lackluster at best. I really wish that they expanded more upon his relationships and how they really help and hindered him. I also really think that the film could have benefitted from an R rating. Some moments were cut out to make the rating more suitable for younger audience members, but I would have found it a lot more enjoyable with a different rating. Besides all this, I am very excited to see where this franchise goes next and I really hope that they eventually merge over with Tom Hollands Spiderman.
